The Cask That Jack Built

The IWS is delighted to be able to offer its latest bottling by subscriptions to our Members of - "The Cask That Jack Built". This is a unique single cask, single malt distilled by our own former president, in what is now a silent Irish distillery.

Distilling in Carlow since October 2012 for Pearse Lyons on the same stills that are now located in their Dublin site, the retired distiller and former society president Dr Jack O'Shea laid down this cask of single malt whiskey in May 2013. That site would itself close with the completion of the Pearse Lyons distillery in Dublin.

In October 2018, the single cask of malt was re-casked into a virgin American oak cask for a further four years of maturation and we are now pleased to offer bottle subscriptions to our members for this unique single cask. The whiskey is bottled at cask strength (59.1%) with no added colouring or chill filtration. In line with Constitution policy, bottles may only be subscribed for by Members (1 bottle each) who joined the Society BEFORE 1 JANUARY 2023.

Any subscriptions placed that are not eligible will be cancelled and payments refunded.

The subscription cost is €90, which covers the cost of postage and packaging to distribute bottles to members. For logistical reasons, bottles cannot be collected.
