Well it's time to kick off again with our first tasting of 2015, so as we were trying to come up with a suitable tasting to kick off the New Year we looked at what we missed out on in 2014.
Looking back, 2014 was a great year for Irish Whiskey with a number of new distilleries/brands opening or plans announced for their opening, but not to be outdone there was a number of new Irish Whiskeys that were released in 2014 and we realised we hadn't yet had the opportunity to sample some of these. An oversight that we will address with this tasting. The whiskeys we've all loved over the last few years decided to let us know that they are not fading away anytime soon with a very tasty selection of new releases to tease our taste and sense buds.
So we start off 2015 with a look back on the new releases of 2014, some of which demonstrate why Irish Whiskey has grown and expanded with a gustatory and olfactory tour de force of the latest offerings that have come onto the Irish marketplace.
A few of these gems will come from long established brand names in Irish Whiskey and a few more will come from the new kids on the block, it will be interesting to see how these newcomers can shake up the marketplace.
