We go west this month, way west.
One of our regular forum contributors, Fionnán, has spent a considerable amount of time in the US and while there has visited a number of micro-distilleries.
This month sees the Irish Whiskey Society looking into the rebirth of American Pot Still whiskey and some innovations that are happening Stateside beyond the traditional bourbon/rye categories.
Included in the line up are samples picked straight from the cask exclusively for the society. The first is a distilled California-style India Pale Ale and the second is a distilled stout whiskey.
These whiskeys are not likely to be available over here any time soon so this is a unique opportunity to sample some unusual tipples.
