As part of our exciting series of Summer events, on Thursday 23rd July, we are thinking outside the box and hosting a rum and rum cocktail tasting night.
The Havana Club ambassador in Ireland, Ciara Farrell, has agreed to host our jolly crew for a rumbustious night of fun and merriment in the most suitable surrounds of the Folkhouse bar, Kinsale. Word has it that her cocktail skills are second-to-none and that rare and expensive Havana Club rums will be on the menu for this exclusive Cuban Rum tasting experience.
Chances are that our very own Carl D'alton will rustle up his famous Irish whiskey cocktail, the Black Barrel Fruition, which recently triumphed in the final of the Jameson Black Barrel Bar Battle in Dublin.
For those that consider this as blasphemous, we would point out that the Folkhouse has one of the most diverse and interesting selections of whiskey in Cork. Whiskey lovers, as we all are, will be delighted to know that the Folkhouse also offers the most competitive prices in this little island of ours, so rest assured that your little whiskey thirst will also be quenched on the night.
A return bus from Cork city, through Carrigaline and onto Kinsale will be arranged in due course. Although yet to be confirmed, we would envisage that the bus will leave Patrick's Quay around 6pm. The return journey will probably leave around 11pm. Again however, this will be finalized over the next few weeks.
This event will suit the ladies in your life who favour the sweet and sour flavours of cocktails - so feel free to invite guests for what will be a unique event in the calendar of the Cork branch of the Irish Whiskey Society.
