April's tasting will welcome Walsh distillery, Carlow to Wynns hotel. Walsh is one of the leading distilleries at the forefront of the new wave of Irish distilling and has built what must be considered to be the most scenic distillery in the country housing both pot stills and a column still enabling them to produce Pot-Still, Single Malt, Grain and Blended whiskey going forward. This new distillery has the capacity to produce 8 million bottles of Irish whiskey annually. Walsh have always been an excellent friend to the Irish Whiskey Society and we were privileged to be invited to the initial 'turning of the sod' at the new distillery in 2014 and its official opening in 2016. We are also privileged to be the only organisation to fill a cask of whiskey (pot still) there to date.
We look forward to tasting the full range of their whiskey presented to us by one of their whiskey ambassadors, as well as some of their new make spirit together with some surprises. We will also be brought up to date with their future plans and also an invitation for our society to visit the distillery later in the summer.
