As the oldest whiskey society in the county (& country in fact), we are going to go back to basics for our next tasting in March. Although whiskey plays such a large part in our lives, it is secondary to the friendships we have in life. This is how our society was founded, some friends and enthusiastic ne'er-do-wells coming together to eulogise about a common interest and this just what our next Dingle tasting will do. We won't scream about the whiskeys we will present....although they will be great. No, we will be celebrating friendship and to spearhead this task, we will have three good erstwhile Dingle friends & souls telling us about some of their favourite whiskeys and why they are so.
As we all know; time of day, location, company, time of year, memories and simple taste can dictate just why a dram may become one of our favourites. Well, Finn MacDonnell, Eamonn Dowd (Dowdyman) and Jack Fabricius, three Dingle legends (in their own minds anyhow) will present some of their favourite whiskeys on the evening to an awestruck audience. Amongst other things, Finn will confide what it is like to get a hair transplant at just 14, Dowdy will tell us of his dreams to someday close Ibiza and Jack will tell of how he became Dingle's number one sailor.
We said that we wouldn't scream about the whiskeys on offer but there are unconfirmed rumours, and we stress unconfirmed that a Midleton Pearl may be consumed on the night but we will have to wait and see.
And in a true show of political correctness ladies, the Dingle chapter of IWS will also host a similar evening later in the year where we will have three of our local belles presenting a selection of their favourite whiskeys to our chapter.
We cannot implore you all enough to get booking asap as this event will sell out in record time.
N.B. There will be no cash taken at the door on the night.
