Distillery Visit: Great Northern Distillery

We're delighted to announce the Society has been invited to visit for an in-depth tour of the Great Northern Distillery on Friday March 6th, guided by Head Distiller Brian Watts. The tour is a great opportunity to expand our knowledge on Pot Still and Continuous Still distilling processes as well as cask strategy and the effects of various wood types during maturation.

The Great Northern Distillery is largest Independent Distillery in Ireland which has been operational since 2015. GND supplies spirit to bulk private labels, contract distilling, retail own label and supplementing spirit and whiskey for smaller distilleries and in the home and international markets.

The distillery operates two distinctive stills- pot stills and columns stills, which produce a diverse range of Irish Whiskey spirit’s including Grain, Triple Malt, Double Malt, Peated Malt and Pot Still Whiskey.

Outline of the Trip:

• 9:15am sharp – Leaving from CHQ Building, Dublin 1

• 11:00am – Tour & Sample Tasting

• 6:00pm - 7:00pm – Arrival in Dublin

There will be an option to purchase Lunch during the day.

There is a modest fee to cover the cost of the trip. A bus is arranged to collect the members from CHQ building in Dublin and back.
