Dear Members,
Our friends at Irish Whiskey Awards have kindly extended us some invites at this year's judging. This will be an in-person event and there are three dates to choose from so please ensure you are registering for the correct day. Since slots are limited and the event is free of charge, please only register to one session to allow for other members to sign-up.
Details below:
When: Saturday September 3rd
Time: 1.30-4pm
Where: Three Storey, 10 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2
Judges will be able to blind taste 2-3 different categories of whiskey at each tasting session. Water, glassware, scoresheets, spitoons etc. will all be provided. The whiskey categories this year are:
Irish Whiskey:
-Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey (11 Years & Younger, inc Non Age Statement)
-Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey (12 Years & Older)
-Irish Single Malt Whiskey (11 Years & Younger, inc Non Age Statement)
-Irish Single Malt Whiskey (12 - 15 Years)
-Irish Single Malt Whiskey (16 Years & Older)
-Irish Blended Whiskey (Non-Age Statement)
-Irish Blended Whiskey (Age Statement)
-Irish Blended Whiskey (Limited Release)
-Irish Single Cask Whiskey (11 Years & Younger, inc Non Age Statement)
-Irish Single Cask Whiskey (12 Years & Older)
-Irish Cask Strength Whiskey
-Irish Single Grain Whiskey
-NEW Irish Whiskey — only distilleries open 3-6 years can enter and it must be distilled on site.
As with all years, we have various guidelines/ criteria in place- i.e. no more than 1cl measures of each whiskey per taster, we would encourage the use of spittoons, plenty of water, breaks between categories and if you start the judging of a category, you must score every whiskey in that category in the same sitting, otherwise all scores for that section will be void.
The score sheets must be handed in to Celtic Whiskey staff member supervising before a taster leaves.
Thank you,
IWS
