Private Bottles from Public Houses!

13th November 2024 (Wednesday), Arthur's Pub, Dublin 8

The Irish public house, or as we fondly call it, "the pub", has long been at the heart of our social gatherings. Over the years, the pub has evolved, keeping up with popular trends, but one thing has always stayed true - our deep-rooted love for whiskey, in all its glorious forms and finishes.

Excitingly, some of the most innovative bar owners have embraced this passion, collaborating with distilleries and bonders to create their own unique, bespoke whiskey bottlings.

And tonight, we are thrilled to present you with five exceptional bottles from different corners of Ireland, each with its own rich story to tell. Let’s take a journey through the tastes and craftsmanship of these fantastic creations.

  • Our adventure begins in the heart of the midlands with: Sean’s Bar, Athlone. Dark amber in color, it offers a sweet, rich nose with vanilla and caramel. The taste starts smooth, evolving into dry spices, and finishes with a tingling peppery spice.
  • Next, we head to the bustling capital and the home of the Poitín revival: Bar 1661, Dublin, in collaboration with JJ Corry. A stunning 7-year-old single malt bonder’s edition, finished in amontillado, Pedro Ximenez, and fino sherry casks, boasting a robust ABV of 47.2%.
  • It’s just a short hop from there to the ancient capital of Ireland: Christy’s Bar, Kilkenny, in collaboration with Two Stacks. This is a powerful 6-year-old single malt, single cask, finished in second-fill honey bourbon casks, with an ABV of 56.6%.
  • Onwards to Ireland's oldest city: Revolution Bar, Waterford, in partnership with Irish Distillers Limited. Here we have the Green Spot Single Pot Still, a single cask release yielding just 174 bottles at a cask strength of 59.6%, after maturing in a bourbon barrel.
  • Our final stop brings us to the charming village of Ardmore: Aimsir/Cliff House Hotel worked with Origin Spirits to present a truly unique Currach Single Malt, finished in Atlantic Kombu Seaweed Casks and Killahora Orchards Apple Ice Wine Casks, hitting a bold ABV of 55.7%.

While we’ll provide a brief introduction to each of these rare gems, tonight is really about savoring these remarkable creations, each one a perfect snapshot of craftsmanship and time.
